Cultural council gives back big with more than $13,000 in grants
The Wareham Cultural Council has awarded $13,279 in grants to support 13 community projects taking place in 2026.
The Wareham Cultural Council is one of 329 councils statewide receiving funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which is supported by the annual state budget. Grants are awarded across the categories of arts, science and humanities, with individual awards ranging from $350 to $2,404.

Candida Rose Baptista, Kabu Merikanus received $1,250, the Swifts Beach Improvement Association received $500, Music from Land’s End received $500 and the Onset Bay Association received $1,175 for the Chalk-Full-of-Fun Festival.
The Wareham Veterans Day Organization received $1,000 toward the Wareham Veterans Day Parade and MUSIC Dance.edu received $500 for Hip Hop Square Dance for Seniors and Chair Dance.
Friends of the Wareham Free Library's adult programming received $1,200 and the children’s science and arts programming received $1,200. Wareham Free Library's THRIVE365: A Year of the Best You was granted $1,000.
Buzzards Bay Coalition's community engagement series received $2,404 alongside $500 toward Wareham Middle School field trips with the coalition. Wareham Council on Aging's Paint Yourself Happy program received $1,700 and the council's Laughter Is the Best Medicine program was granted $350.
