Karen J. Vargas, 72

WAREHAM - Karen J. Vargas, 72, of Wareham, died Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Boston Medical Center. She was the wife of Pedro J. Vargas.

Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of Wilhelmina (Hayden) Stanley of Brockton and the late Clifford Mignault.

Karen previously lived in Middleboro before she moved to Wareham in 1989. She enjoyed cooking and flowers and loved animals.

Survivors include her husband, Pedro J. Vargas of Wareham; her mother, Wilhelmina Stanley of Brockton; her children, Mandi Laranjo and her husband Timothy of W. Wareham, Pedro Vargas and his wife Katie of Wareham, and Dana Sutkus and her husband Damian of Bourne; her siblings, Maureen Mignault of Carver, John Stanley of Brockton, Bonnie Upham of Carver and Tesha Carveiro of E. Taunton. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Indigo Leighton, Hollis Laranjo, Zenari Laranjo, Tord Vargas, Caleb Vargas, Sebastian Sutkus and Parker Sutkus. She was predeceased by her grandson, the late Austin Mignault.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Agawam Cemetery, Stillman Memorial Dr., Wareham at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
