Letter to the editor: World Ovarian Cancer Day

May 2, 2025

World Ovarian Cancer Day is celebrated globally on May 8 since 2013 spanning across 32 countries to raise awareness about ovarian cancer which I am a survivor of.

It’s a day to come together to talk openly about this under- recognized serious disease and its symptoms, risk factors, warning signs, ongoing research and standing by those fighting this horrible disease. It’s an opportunity to remind women that their health is important and early detection can save lives.

The color for ovarian cancer awareness is teal so I respectfully ask everyone to please wear this color on May 8 to stand in unity for all the women that have survived and for those currently battling this dreadful disease and to never forget the brave women that unfortunately lost their lives to ovarian cancer.
