Second test run of Onset Porchfest a 'success'

An iteration of the popular Porchfest music festival could be coming to Onset after organizers held a "successful" second trial run on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Porchfests are held across Massachusetts and the country with residents hosting bands to set up and play live music outside their homes. Some municipalities, like Somerville, bring in hundreds of bands each year for a day of free shows in neighborhood yards and porches.
In June, a first rendition of Porchfest was held in the Shell Point neighborhood. For this weekend's second edition, bands played in the Point Independence neighborhood.
Amy Morgan, who hosted the event at her home, called it a "perfect afternoon." Around 50 neighbors showed up for a potluck and live music lasting around three hours.
According to Porchfest organizer Mark Blaze, attendees donated $299 for the Onset Bay Association, which is considering picking up an Onset-wide version of the festival in 2027.
"These porch fest tests are demonstrating strong community support for using music to unite neighborhoods," Blaze wrote in an email to Wareham Week.
