WAREHAM – Beverly A. Lopes, 87, of Wareham, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Faustino "Fausty" A. Lopes, Jr. The couple had recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on July 1st.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Aurora (Santos) Graca. Beverly graduated from Wareham High School, class of 1956, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Gorham State Teachers College in Gorham, Maine.

A dedicated and cherished educator, Beverly devoted over 45 years to Wareham Public Schools, spending most of her career at the former Decas School. She touched the lives of countless students, teaching multiple generations of Wareham families with care and compassion.

Beverly had a love for travel and, alongside her fellow educators, explored nearly every continent. She was deeply involved in the Wareham community through her work with the Red Hat Society, the board of directors at the Wareham Free Library, and as the current president of the Wareham Athletic Association. She also participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and was a proud supporter of the annual Onset Cape Verdean Festival.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Faustino; her children, Raquel Lopes Mullaney and her husband Robert of Middleboro, Derek Lopes and his wife Cindy of Wareham, and Sonya Lopes of Wareham; her sister, Bernice “Bunny” Veiga of West Wareham; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 7 PM. Her funeral will be from the funeral home on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 94 High St., Wareham at 10 AM.
